[edit] Geography

Milne Bay extends from south-eastern tip of the Papua New Guinea mainland. It consists of mostly island groups, with abundant and spectacular coral reef systems. Most of the population of Milne Bay live beside the sea and derive their day to day living directly from it.

[edit] Religion

Christianity (Mainly Catholic and Uniting churches) are the main forms of religion throughout Milne Bay although traditional beliefs and customs also are a large part of daily life.

[edit] Communication

There are 2 banks here with 3 ATM's (Not 24hr and sometimes not working). Westpac has 1 ATM and the Bank of South Pacific has 2. Obtaining cash through your credit card is often (But not always) possible but may require your passport for ID.

There is a fledgling internet cafe here as well (Dial up only) that charges about 6 kina for 15 minute blocks, that's about say $2.80 AUD (2008). Check the current exchange rate for Papua New Guinea.

Mobile phone service is available in Alotau, although it can be unreliable at times. Public phones are available at the Post Office, but are often very busy and a long wait can be in order.
